Chartered Occupational Psychologist

Dr Cathy Brown is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist. Since 2004 she has run her own organisational development consultancy, Evolve (www.evolve.eu.com), where she supports organisations, teams and individuals through transitions and change. Cathy met Rob and the CCS team in 2005, when she was trained in the CCS career development methodology. Since then Cathy has worked together with Rob and the CCS team on several occasions.

After undertaking her research at Birkbeck College, University of London on the transition to selfemployment, Cathy and Rob collaborated on developing the Testing the Water® self-employment methodology which supports individuals in their transition to setting up their own business. This is now used around the world, and is now been licensed for other career coaches to use. Following this success, Cathy undertook additional research into the transition from work to retirement and education to work, and again collaborated with Rob in developing the respective Testing the Water® approaches.

In addition, Cathy has shared her thoughts and research on many topics at the CCS alumni event at Cumberland Lodge, Windsor Great Park, including career mobility (the focus of her PhD) and personal reinvention. More latterly, Cathy collaborated with Gilly Freedman on developing two masterclasses for career coaches exploring how we can help our clients to find their purpose and also support our clients through their mid-life career reinvention.

As well as publishing the Testing the Water® practical guides, which are available on Amazon, Waterstones and other booksellers, Cathy regularly shares her thoughts and research findings in publications including: Career Development International, British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, Career Matters, People Management and NICEC Journal.
